his re-work of the 1975 brazilian obscurity tatarue by giovana aims both barrels firmly at the dancefloor, while his extended edit of the morris wilson’s version of rappers delight, entitled bebopper’s delight, thankfully extends the original’s 1’35” length with some typically scrimshire twists and turns along the way.

following their release of the michael turtle 12inch last year, music from memory now publish phantoms of dreamland a compilation of works by the uk musician recorded between 1983-1985. tip! this double lp features tracks drawn from the recording sessions for turtles album music from the living room and also collects material turtle recorded shortly after that, for an album which would never materialise. with three tracks taken from music from the living room’ and the rest of the compilation entirely made up of unreleased tracks, phantoms of dreamland draws on an illustrious period for michael.

liam blackburn s transformative night of visions lp as ancestral voices forged a bold new sonic identity for an influential figure on the electronic music scene. from his groundbreaking work as indigo and onto the success of akkord s hybrid electronic melting pot (with synkro), the quest for forward movement is intrinsic to everything liam produces. to further celebrate the night of visions lp release, we asked some of our favourite producers to reconstruct some of night of visions highlights in their own style. each remixer chose their own track from night of visions to work with. the first name on our remix list was swedish producer and northern electronics label head - abdulla rashim. choosing invocations , his remix focuses on the hypnotic power of the original, turning the tune into a golden loop with subtle kick drum stabs, sweeping percussion and a dangling tension that hangs through the entire 7.33 minutes. asc & sam kdc chose feathered serpent and using just touches of the original tune have masterfully built an all new backbone that demonstrates clearly the ability of the grey area sound to work at 2 different tempo s and weld together with straight techno.

oona dahl joined us at all day i dream last year both as a dj and recording artists. her first release high eyes was featured on our summer sampler and floated onto the dance floor and into the consciousness of dj s around the world. oona studied sound design in the usa before moving to berlin over the summer of 2015 to continue honing and crafting her sound. her first full ep for adid features deep dreamscapes and innovative arrangements underpinned by solid grooves that capture emotive, twisted melodic expressions. she and her music are a trip to the depths.

nicolas belligoli alias mtd is one of the founders of the label sonntag morgen. he expresses and develops a techno / dub with dark, melancholic and industrial influences. his melodies are sharp and give a new and powerful rhythm. he was noted for the quality of his release (affin record, abstract animal, arts digital...) especially for his work on nachtstrom schallplatten in 2015 (“substances & perceptions” double lp).

born in sao paulo to a deeply religious family, laercio has been around music all his life - amidst the challenges of daily life, his adventist parents would whip out all sorts of instruments whenever the situation would allow it, introducing a young and curious mind to a wide range of musical expressions. it should come as no surprise, then, that our hero quickly felt at home with notes and bars, choosing the flute as his first weapon of choice which he eagerly studied from the age of seven. even later non-musical career choices always reflected an infatuation with the world of sounds, like his stint as a capoeira teacher, combining martial arts, acrobatics and dance. with such a multi-faceted background in music, the inevitable tinkering with synthesizers and other means of electronic sound generation was rather a question of time than one of ambition, and sure enough we find laercio roaming the parties of the mid-noughties, absorbing the unique melange of styles and scales that inform club culture to this day. in stark contrast to most other rave inductees at the time, however, he never wanted to become a dj: his area of expertise is the performance, not the collecting and curating of other people s releases, and it shows in the unusual fact that laercio has held club residencies as a live electronic musician in venues like sao paulo s the edge without ever so much as touching a record. in these release l_cio has worked with d.o.c. mastermind gui boratto. and the result is music for the dancefloor.

the return of wasserfall to the workshop brings a bunch of well-informed, beautifully executed & idiosyncratic tunes that represent our man so well. charlie, the opener is kind of oddball, jazzed out, abstract house with a strange charlie parker homage. stoned mumbles murk around ideally tuned rimshots and double bass flecks that cheekily plod about sounding like a stumbling one man band.

fancy humans leigh morgan has been knocking around a while, running urban torque recordings for the best part of a decade throughout the naughties. having reached a satisfactory level of noodle shinnery on his baldy bonce, he has put down the scalp polish and finally started making music. project pickle is his second solo ep. project pickle includes three original tracks, nailing his colours to the mast, dilly of a pickle begins with a clear indication of pickle preference, pie on the sly the accompanying dish, and almost champion a nod to the ultimate disappointment in food related release punnery. we asked chocky to come on board for remix duties, once he d told us which was his favourite pickle, his answer we ll take to our graves. chocky has been winning plaudits for his deep dubby jazzy grooves through artful division, nature soul music, roots for bloom and audio parallax etc, and here he s on great form with, er, a deep dubby jazzy re-imaging, lovely stuff.

firstly, a huge thanks to everyone for supporting us so far - 2016 has seen the dext label continuing to go from strength to strength, with our callahan and mella dee ep s backed with remixes from hodge and endian which have been been super well received. now for the third ep of the year from our resident comedian bodyjack. bodyjack has been an integral part of dext since he remixed dubspeeka on our 2nd release and headlined our label takeover of privilege in ibiza last summer. we are very excited about his return to the label with this 3-tracker (and our first full solo artist ep!), and we think you re going to dig this... the title track cobra effect is one of those tracks you aren t going forget in a hurry. intense and brooding, we are hard-pushed to categorise this, but layers of sinister bass coupled with dark, driving snares and eerie synth work culminate masterfully, making this the perfect dext track. hydra effect lifts the vibe with a straight up peak-time house jam with a sting in the tail. a raw-but-infectious bassline winds along under bodyjack s signature killer drum programming, before blasting off with something you aren t going to expect. rounding the ep off is slowine effect: a proper dancehall workout (reminiscent of bodyjack s earlier work) and a real cross-genre party starter. the most upbeat of the 3 tracks, this again takes all the elements of what we love about the music from the past and cleverly works them into something special for the rave. and that s not all for bodyjack on dext this year - he will be back with a one-off ltd record called -hot shot-, backed with a very special remixer...but more on that soon!
